Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP) at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering
Biotechnology Finishing School (BTFS) was a very unique initiative in India with enhanced placement opportunities in Biotechnology Sector launched by Government of Karnataka in the Millennium Biotech Policy-II, in association with Government of India. BTFS was established in Karnataka with appropriate course content and duration to equip graduates and post-graduates with necessary employable skills and to make them industry ready. Dayananda Sagar Institutions was selected to conduct the Bio-Technology Finishing School (BTFS) programme from September 2011 for the period of five years. The programme is continued for the next cycle of five years and renamed as Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP).

Course Highlights
- BiSEP is a 12 months programme with Course work for 6 months and Industry Internship for 6 months and is affiliated to the Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. The students upon successful completion would be eligible for the PG Diploma awarded by the University.
- The selected students through Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test (KBAT) conducted online by KBITS are provided a fellowship of Rs. 10,000/- per month throughout the duration of the programme (1 Year) by Ktech, GoK and DBT, New Delhi.
- The students would also be examined and certified by the Life Science Sector Development Council (LSSSDC), a statutory body under National Skill Development Council (NSDC), New Delhi.
- BiSEP students will be trained with soft skills at Center for Innovation and Leadership (CIL), DSI
- Department of Biotechnology has a semi commercial Plant Tissue Culture lab, which provides BiSEP students a professional environment and motivate them to become entrepreneurs. DSCE is equipped with a dedicated Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) which provides mentorship and assistance for establishing Start ups in the biotech sector.
- Several activities like Industry visits, Invited talk by industry experts, hands on workshops, soft skill training, communication skill trainings, entrepreneurship trainings, Presentation of student research, etc will be conducted for BiSEP students along with their curriculum during their course work.
