- Preparation: To support the engineering students to develop a scientific attitude in their professional advancement with a basic knowledge in the developments in Science and Technology.

Engineering Physics department is one of the oldest departments at DSI and the faculties are experts in the fields of physics and nanotechnology and are leaders in a broad range of physics research, utilizing facilities and technologies that are continually being modified and improved.
Our department was established in 1979, and since then, we have grown into a strong and vibrant department with eminent faculty vigorously pursuing world-class research. Our students have access to state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and are involved in innovative research projects in our research labs.

PHYSICS DEPARTMENT
Invited Talk
The Department of Physics, DSCE in association with the circuit branches jointly organized a talk by Dr. Phaneendra K Yalavarthy, Professor in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. on Computational methods in medical imaging and deep learning in medical imaging.
Facilities
Department of Physics has well equipped smart class rooms. All the UG laboratories in the department are equipped with UPS support. A specialized thin film and nanotechnology lab is available in the department to support the research students.
Research
All the doctorates in the department are registered guides for the VTU recognized research centre and the areas of research includes studies on organic and inorganic sensors and devices.

The Department of Engineering Physics conducts several activities for the first year students apart from their regular academics.
Department Highlights
Department of Physics in DSCE focuses on many student centric and faculty centric activities and projects. Department of Physics has sanctioned projects worth Rs 45 Lakhs from various scientific agencies.
