FDP on Octave Mathematical Software
The two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Octave Mathematical Software, held on June 7-8, 2024, at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), Bengaluru, was a collaborative initiative organized by the Departments of Mathematics and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) in conjunction with the Board of Studies, ECE, VTU, Belagavi, Karnataka, and supported by the IEEE Women in Engineering, Bengaluru Section Affinity Group.

On the 10th of April 2023, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) was formally inaugurated at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, a collaboration between the Department of Mathematics and The Math Company, in the presence of dignitaries, officials, and guests. The program began with a welcome address, followed by the official DSCE video and a small video featuring DSCE with The Math Company.

MathCo Quizzard was an event organized by TheMathCompany in association with Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, by the Department of Mathematics, TheMathCompany in partnership with the Aryabhata Club, held on the 28th of February 2023, at CD Sagar Auditorium, Bangalore. The event aimed to introduce the company to the students and create brand awareness. The target audience for the event was 3rd-year students, with a pool of 100 students in attendance.

Department of Mathematics conducted one day workshop on “Computational Techniques” on 28th Dec 2022. This workshop mainly focused on training on Quantitative Aptitude and Mathematics. Resource Person Mr. Chidananda K from Seventh Sense People Development Solutions Pvt Ltd., had mainly focussed on training the students to apply the statistical techniques, short method to solve Mathematical problems and aptitude questions for competative exams. Workshop was conducted in two sessions (Forenoon and Afternoon) , around 150 students participated in the workshop. Sessions were interactive and participants are benifitted from the workshop and gave the good feedback about the workshop.
Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) - Student Chapter
The student chapter of Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) was inaugurated on July 14th 2022 at the C D Sagar auditorium. It has been initiated jointly by three departments: Mathematics, AIML & MCA. The event began with lighting of the lamp and by invoking the God. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Shelvanarayan Aghalayam, working as Master Principal Consultant (Director) at the Oracle Corporation. Dr. C. P. S Prakash, Principal, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering congratulated the HODs, staff and students for this initiative and lauded the team for conceptualizing such an endeavour that can bridge the gap between industry and academia. The HOD’s of the three departments namely Dr. Radha Gupta (Mathematics), Dr. Preeti Satish (AI ML) and Dr. Samitha Khaiyum (MCA) graced the occasion. The Chief Guest started the talk by highlighting the importance of Industry 4.0. He strongly emphasized that innovations can certainly emerge from digital improvements. He also focused on the fact that Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing the way companies manufacture and distribute their products.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY- “SAHAJAYOGA FOR HEALTHY LIFE STYLE”- JUNE 25TH 2022
An account of ‘INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY’ we the Department of Mathematics organized the “SAHAJAYOGA FOR HEALTHY LIFESTYLE” On 25th June 2022 at Seminar Hall Heritage Block, Dayananda sagar college of Engineering, Bangalore. .The eminent Speakers Mr. Yogesh Kshirsagar, Yoga instructor, Nirmala Devi Sahajayoga Trust New Delhi, Mr.Ashishkumar Umap, Sr. Manager, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. Nashik delivered the talk on Meditation and 7 chakra and their importance in life. On outset, students have learnt how to incorporate Yoga and meditation at home and activate the chakras for healthy and stressless life in day to day life.
Faculty Development Program on “Computational Mathematics and AI for Engineers”
Department of Mathematics has organized a 5day AICTE ATAL Faculty Development Program on “Computational Mathematics and AI for Engineers” from December 13h to December 17th 2021. In this tech-savvy program, total of 10 renowned faculties enlighten 200 participants with their knowledge and vision on recent trends in mathematics such as Artificial Intelligence, Nature Inspired Algorithm, Neural Networks, Resemblance of Artificial Intelligence with Mathematics, Contribution of Mathematics in Biomedical Research, Drone Swarm, Data Science, Machine Learning , Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Biomedical Research, Heuristic optimization with an empirical demonstration and Numerical differentiation of noisy data. The interesting sessions highlighted the various existing and new applications of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning in this growing and highly competitive world which results in motivating many researchers to learn and venture in these areas.
Faculty Development Program on “Emerging trends in Application of Mathematics”
Department of Mathematics has organized a 5day AICTE ATAL Faculty Development Program on “Emerging trends in Application of Mathematics” from December 06th to December 10th 2021. For this brainstorming program, total of 10 renowned faculties enlighten 182 participants with their knowledge and vision on recent trends in mathematics such as MATLAB, PHYTHON, Linear algebra for Machine Learning, Application of Operation Research for Optimization, Simulation of Time series using a non-Gaussian Model, Graph Theory, trends on Mathematical Cosmology, Maple and Mathematica for mathematics . The sessions were very innovative, informative, and worked as a wonder for participants to enhance the understanding of the subject. After each session, a discussion session was organized to bridge the gap in participants understanding. FDP has helped the Participants in identifying learning objectives and improve the efficiency of the delivery of the subject.
Workshop on “MAXIMA SOFTWARE”
Department of Mathematics organized a workshop on “MAXIMA SOFTWARE”on 05th of October 2021 by the resource person Dr.Anitha N, Associate Professor, Mathematics, Department of Science and Humanities, PES University, Bangalore. The workshop was conducted through face to face and around 25 Faculty members had participated. Instructors gavehands on training, which made very interesting. The participants gave good feedback about the workshop.
Workshop on Applications of Biostatistics
Department of Mathematics conducted One Day Workshop entitled “Applications of Biostatistics” on 26 th February, 2020. Speaker provided hands-on training on the various tests to be adopted for qualitative and quantitative biological data and explained when and where to apply the exact statistical techniques namely correlation, regression, chi square, t- test and ANOVA.
Workshop on Quality Research Publications and Patenting
Department of Mathematics, DSCE conducted One day workshop on Quality Research Publications and Patenting on 24th January 2020. This workshop mainly focused on how to bring the quality publications.
