Librarian’s Day
Librarians’ Day was celebrated in our library on 12th August 2025 to observe the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The programme began with a brief introduction of Librarian’s Day. Chief Librarian highlighted the contributions of Dr. Ranganathan to modern librarianship and the Five Laws of Library Science.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Madegowda, Librarian. The celebration helped to promote reading habits, create awareness about library services and encourage better interaction between users and the library staff.

Library Orientation Programme for newly admitted under Graduate Students.
The Chief Librarian conducted an Orientation Programme for newly admitted under Graduate students on 8/9/2025. The session aimed to familiarize students with the library’s facilities, resources, services and policies.
During the programme, students were introduced to the layout of the library, membership procedures, book borrowing/return guidelines, e-resources, OPAC search, the digital services available and how to make effective use of reference materials.
Students actively participated and clarified their doubts regarding library usage. The orientation helped them understand the role of the library in supporting their academic work and encouraged them to make full use of the available resources.

Ganesha Festival Celebration
The Ganesha Festival was celebrated in our library on 26th August 2025 with devotion and enthusiasm. A simple and eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesha was enshrined and Dr. Hemachandra Sagar- Chairman, DSI participated in the pooja ceremony along with the Secretary, Joint- Secretary, heads of institutions and the HODs. Students and Staff also participated and sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The immersion ceremony was conducted on 28th August and the event was marked by various cultural programmes by the staff and students of DSI.

Ayudha Pooja Celebration
Ayudha Pooja was celebrated in the library on 30/09/2025 with devotion and simplicity. As part of the celebration, the library premises, computers, equipment, and work areas were cleaned and decorated. A traditional pooja was performed, seeking blessings for the smooth functioning of library services and the well-being of staff and users. Library staff and students participated in the ceremony and prasada was distributed after the pooja. The celebration created a positive and harmonious atmosphere, highlighting the cultural importance of respecting tools and workplaces.
