Google Summer of Code 2020
Ashutosh Pandey is the Google Summer of Code Select May 2020. He is one of the 1199 students worldwide selected for the Google Summer of Code. He will be working for the Arduino organisation (one of the two students that Arduino chose this year) He is working with Arduino on creating a transcompiler to translate C++ to MicroPython a source to source compiler for the upcoming Portenta H7 board.
He is the also Technical Lead and Founder Point Blank – a coder community at CSE, DSCE.
His other achievements include:
- Arduino Nano BLE 33 winner
Element14 Electronics March 1, 2020 Was one of the 5 individuals in the world to win an Arduino Nano BLE 33 from Element14 on Arduino day.
- 2nd place, Regional Finals, TCS Techbytes Quiz
Tata Consultancy Services March 1, 2020 Won the 2nd place among approximately 250 teams in the TCS Techbytes quiz at SJBIT, Bangalore. Finished 1st in the prelims with a score of 18/20. Won a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
- Udacity Intel Edge AI Scholarship Recipient
Udacity December 1, 2019 Received a scholarship from Udacity to study Intel Edge AI. Will receive 2.5 months of free course materials. One of the 750 selected from across the world for this cohort.
- Grand Prize winner , Summer Code club challenge
Element14 electronics October 1, 2019 Won the Grand prize for running the BBC Micro: Bit summer code club.

Microsoft Innovation Lab, PES University October 1, 2019 Ranked in the top 10 out of 500 teams in the Microsoft Hashcode Hackathon conducted by PES university.

Dassault Systemes September 1, 2019 Became one of the three teams out of 1300 from South India to qualify for the finals of AAKRUTI 2019 . Designed an affordable myoelectric modular prosthesis.

Nokia Collegiate Code Rally Contest (May 4th to May 10th)
Nokia held it’s annual 7 day coding contest from May 4th to may 10th, 2020. This contest was open for all the colleges inside Bangalore and more than 1000 participants registered for the contest. Point Blank is proud to share that top 2 positions were bagged by DSCE.

Paper Presentation
Ms. Sadia Ali and Ms. Meghana I M of 8th semester attended conference FICTA – International Conference on Frontiers of Intelligent Computing: Theory and Applications (FICTA) NIT, Suratkal, Karnataka, on Jan 4 and Jan 5, 2020 and presented their paper on “A Comprehensive Study on Fetal Anomaly Detection using Machine Learning Techniques”.

Report on visit to Columbia and Harvard
In February 2020 Akshaj Jain of 8th Sem CSE, DSCE attended HPAIR(Harvard College project for Asian and international Student Relations)
Akshaj also visited Columbia University in NYC, which is an Ivy League University. At Columbia, he visited the MBA classrooms and experienced the environment there as a prospective student. Also in New York City he visited historic empire state and world trade centre.
After visiting NYC, Akshaj went to Boston for the conference on 12th of February. The Conference was scheduled on 14th of Feb. He visited the Institute of Applied Computational Science, Harvard University on the 13th and 14th of February, where he met Dr. Pavlos Protopapas with whom he will be continuing his research on neural networks in the summer. Akshaj mentioned that his visit to IACS was very informational and the research being done at IACS was truly cutting edge.
Overall, it was a very powerful learning experience and networking experience and Akshaj was able to experience the amazing campuses of Columbia and Harvard Universities.
